DIY must for Craft Night

Emily and I might start up Craft Night next Tuesday and I think we should try out these homemade felt balls.  My sister-in-law showed me an awesome Christmas wreath made from the same type of felt balls but we never ended up making one.  Say YES! to hoboken had an awesome tutorial on how to make the balls with wool roving that you purchase at JoAnn Craft Store.
Isn't this wreath awesome?
My sister-in-law always finds the coolest things!

What are you making for Christmas?
Today I am going to make some peanut butter fudge and finish making my corn bags.
If I remember I'll take some pictures and put them up tonight. :)

Holiday Party Plans...

On Dec. 10th I am going to a holiday party at our friends house.  We have three things that we have to bring.  Our favorite Christmas goody, a $5 gift, and a mug.  The mugs are going to be in a competition and the one that wins gets a giftcard. (Matt's mug is going to win but shhh don't tell. ;)  I am also a little worried about what to wear.  I want to look cute but also look according to the festivities.  My friend Emily and I may find some vintage holiday sweaters to wear at the DAV or Salvation Army, which would be awesome!  I think if I had that Christmas tree mug I would win.  Oh and look at that girls nails! That's fun for a party.

Zipper Cup - Set of 2
Another neat mug.
I am bringing Rasberry Shortbreat cookies for the special treat and I also made a Terranium for the gift.  I always make gifts that I wouldn't mind having myself. :)

Presents and Cookies and Santa OH MY!

Hello everyone! I'm sorry for the long break but it was well needed.  I think for the rest of this week I'll try and post a few of the cool blogs I've been reading on my blogging break.  I feel like if someone quits blogging its because they're busy reading other peoples blogs or at least thats what happened to me.

We have been busy getting Christmas presents, decorating, and finishing up the fall semester (only 3 more left)!!!! I'm so excited to finish because as soon as I finish that is one step closer to adding an addition to our family!!

Here are some of our decorations this year!
I found this tree for $5 at a garage sale.

My friend Emily found this at Micheals so I had to get one.

POPCORN...

Matt has his ornaments too.

A very old nativity scene with a few missing pieces.

Paper snowflakes! So easy and cute to make!

Another craft that Emily and I did! Thanks Em!
(ModPodge is the best)

Romancing the Stone has very cool ornaments.

I came home to this wrapped beside the tree.  So excited to see what it looks like!  I asked for an old chair for my craft closet.
PS BEST HUSBAND EVER!!

I think I have decided that I want a turntable for Christmas. I currently don't have a cd player or any cds because they all got stolen so I think I'll just start a new collection of records. I have been doing some research on them and found a few I like.

This one is affordable and a really good deal. It's only 49.99!! Go Jenson!

This one is a little more expensive but a cool case comes with it.

This one I feel is probably the best deal but you know sometimes you just want one that looks cool. This has a cassette, cd, and record player all in one. You can also convert your records into cds. Pretty Cool!!!

PS A guy at work just offered me one for $25. Which one will I choose?

Am I Weird...

Ha...funny title. Sometimes I feel like I'm a little strange and I think others think the same thing. I thought I would try and list 10 things that make me a little different than others. Enjoy getting to know me a little better :)

1. I like smells. (good or bad)

2. I like to stare. (I hate that people view starring as an insult but I rarely ever think anything mean when I'm staring. I am usually complimenting in my head or trying to figure out how I could incorporate that into my wardrobe.)

3. I like to cut peoples toenails. (Ok. a little weird)

4. I talk really fast and change what I am talking about sometime in mid-sentence.

5. When I daydream my eyes get really big and people ask what I am doing.

6. My face turns red if I see someone I haven't seen in a long time. (I hope I grow out of this!)

7. I like to make up weird dances and songs. (This is a reason my husband loves me :)

8. I push my nose up when it itches and I have made an indention on the end of it.

9. I scratch my neck all the time because I have itchy skin. Then my neck turns red and people always ask what happened. PEOPLE I JUST HAVE ITCHY SKIN...OK :)

10. I get really excited when I see an elderly person having a garage sale. They always have the BEST things.

Well there you go. A few things that make me different from everyone else. I kind of like that I have things that make me different. What makes you different?

PS I am getting a little stressed about what I should ask for for Christmas. AHHH!

11.20.2010

Today was a very busy day! Matt and I woke up, went to breakfast, raked and bagged 20 bags of leaves, napped, and then went to the friends Thanksgiving feast. To say the least, I am very sleepy. Then Matt and some friends went to see Harry Potter but I wanted to spend my money on crafts. :) We are also going to see an Arizona Cardinals game tomorrow in Kansas City. We are a little nervous about rooting for the Cardinals because I hear those Chiefs fans can be pretty intense. (My dad is a chiefs fan ;)

Here are a few pictures I took of us raking my grandparents yard today. I also put up pictures of my tote bag I made. I was pretty proud of myself!! :)

This is the tutorial I went by.

Friend Thanksgiving Feast

I know, OK!! I am really terrible at doing this 30 day blog thing. I said I would double up and I didn't and then I didn't even write yesterday. I do have a little bit of an excuse because my IPhone freaked out on me yesterday. I couldn't get it to turn on so Matt had to reboot it. Everything since May was deleted! Boo!! I was thankful that I saved it in May because if I didn't I would have lost all of my contacts. Everyone knows that is not a fun adventure.

Well this Saturday my sister-in-law is having a before Thanksgiving Feast with friends and we got invited. I am so excited to get a preview of next Thursday! I decided to make Pioneer Womans green bean casserole. I was a little nervous to stray from the traditional green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and French's fried onions but decided this sounded pretty good. My mother raised my sister and I to only like the real deal, such as, homemade mashed potatoes, only using butter and milk, homemade dressing, absolutely NO stovetop, ect. You get the point but I am trying to start my own traditions. So, I am interested to see if this tastes better than the original. I highly doubt it doesn't because what tastes bad using half & half. I am leaving out the bacon and bread crumbs because I do need those French's onions. :)

Click on the picture if you want to see the recipe.

Here are a few DIY projects I would like to do in the near future! Click on them to find the tutorials.

PS I will be sharing my tote bag that I just recently made next!

Oops!

I accidentally forgot to blog yesterday. Guess I'll have to blog twice today. :) Craft night was last night and we got home really late. This weeks craft night was fun! I learned how to crochet and I showed my friend Emily how to while we watched Parenthood.

ANYWAYS...
My wonderful sister-in-law, or seester as we call each other, accidentally ordered two of these Sufjan Christmas Albums and she generously gave one to me. She's way awesome! The album artwork is incredible and it came with stickers! so fun... I have posted a few of my favorites down below.

Aren't they adorable!!

These are the stickers! I wonder where I should put them?

Homemade Crayons Tutorial

I thought this would be a fun project for the two little girls I babysit for to do with me. We had a fun time peeling the paper off of the crayons and it didn't take very long.

Materials:
tin can-one for each color
medicine bottles
broken crayons
small pot for boiling

First we separated all the tiny crayon pieces into piles by color.

Then we found a tin can and peeled the paper off of it to begin the melting process. We boiled half a pot of water in a small pot before we started.

Then we melted the red crayon. Each crayon took around 3 to 4 minutes. Be sure to melt all the crayons because sometimes pieces hide in the bottom.

Then we melted the green crayons. WARNING:Can gets very hot. I used a paper towel to grab onto the can.

Next you poor the melted crayons into the medicine bottles and place them into the freezer so they harden faster for the next color crayon.

Then color away!!
